Transitions and ASD

For an autistic pupil, the changes experienced between moving between settings/key stages can trigger underlying anxiety. The course will examine the support required to minimise anxiety and explore the strategies that can be put in place to manage transitions positively, with a positive outcome for the autistic pupil.

Outcome:

  • To understand the anxieties that can be triggered in the autistic pupil during times of transition.

  • To consider the practical preparation of resources that can be put in place.

  • To understand the reasonable adjustments that can be made for the pupil in the school setting.
