Managing Anxiety in Pupils with ASD

Children and young people with ASD are more likely to experience mental health issues. This course will look at the possible causes for this and explore strategies which may help promote wellbeing and resilience. Consideration will also be given to dealing with specific mental health issues within the school environment, including suicidal thinking and identifying appropriate support strategies.

Outcome:

  • To discuss the links between autism and mental health issues.

  • To recognise the signs that a student may be experiencing anxiety.

  • To consider support strategies for students with ASD who may be experiencing high levels of anxiety.
