This course will provide guidance to schools on Alternative Provision (AP).

The session will go through the statutory guidance to schools and what this looks like in practice.

Schools will receive practical advice on arranging and monitoring APs so that they are suitable and safe as well as guidance regarding the roles and responsibilities of the school when organising and overseeing a AP placement for a student.

This training is suitable for senior school leaders, pastoral staff, SENDCOs and anyone else who is responsible for AP within schools.

Learning Objectives:

• To understand the statutory guidance regarding Alternative Provision for schools and what this looks like in practice.
• To cover the role and responsibilities of schools who choose to arrange AP for their pupils.
• To understand the role of the Governors, particularly with regards to the monitoring of AP and the reintegration of pupils back into school after receiving AP.
• To increase confidence and competence regarding quality checking providers so that the placements they provide are suitable and safe for pupils.
• To raise awareness of the importance of planning for re-integration of students receiving AP and how schools and APs should work together to support this.
