Officers from Buckinghamshire Council's Schools Finance team will present information and guidance on quarterly monitoring, checks and balances, budget monitoring and 3 year financial planning in maintained schools. This course is aimed at experienced governors with some prior knowledge of schools finance. If you are new to the governance of maintained schools finance, you may wish to complete 'An Introduction to finance in maintained schools for governors' course before attending this session. Please note this course does not cover academy finance.


  • Grow your knowledge and understanding of the role of governors in strategic financial management
  • Be aware of good practices in budget monitoring and strategic financial planning
  • Ensure that your governing board is making appropriate financial decisions and receiving appropriate monitoring information
